SECTION 01
What an international payment gateway is
An online payment gateway is the service that takes a customer's card or wallet payment on your website and sends the money to your account. An international payment gateway can accept payments from customers outside Pakistan, usually by card, and often in foreign currencies such as US dollars, pounds or dirhams.
Local gateways in Pakistan are built for PKR payments from Pakistani customers: JazzCash, Easypaisa, local debit and credit cards, and bank transfers. If most of your customers are abroad, or you sell services, software or digital products internationally, you need a route that accepts foreign cards and pays out to you.

SECTION 02
Why PayPal and Stripe are hard to use from Pakistan
PayPal does not offer accounts for receiving payments to businesses based in Pakistan, which is why "PayPal alternative in Pakistan" is such a common search. Stripe only onboards businesses registered in the countries it supports, and Pakistan isn't one of them.
Some Pakistani founders register a company abroad, for example a US LLC or a UK limited company, open a bank account for it, and use Stripe through that company. This works for some businesses, especially software and service exporters, but it adds formation costs, foreign tax filings, banking work and questions about how profits come back to Pakistan. Take professional advice before going this way.
SECTION 03
International payment gateway options for Pakistani businesses
These are the routes Pakistani sellers commonly use to take payments from abroad. Which one fits depends on whether you sell physical products, digital products or services, and whether customers pay on your website or by invoice.
Several Pakistani banks offer card acquiring that accepts international Visa and Mastercard on your website, settled to your Pakistani account. Ask whether foreign cards are enabled and in which currencies.
Gateways such as GoPayFast take card payments online. Ask each one whether international cards are accepted for your business category.
Widely used by Pakistani freelancers and sellers to receive payments from foreign clients and marketplaces and withdraw to a local bank.
Full card checkout in many currencies, but only through a company registered in a Stripe-supported country.
Some global processors and resellers accept Pakistani merchants. Check their current country support, fees and payout route.
SECTION 04
PayPal alternatives in Pakistan
If you were going to use PayPal to invoice foreign clients, Payoneer is the most common replacement: clients pay your Payoneer account or invoice, and you withdraw to your Pakistani bank. Bank-to-bank transfers (SWIFT) to your Pakistani account also work for larger invoices, with bank fees on both sides.
If you were going to use PayPal as a checkout button on your store, look instead at your bank's card acquiring, a local gateway with international card acceptance, or Stripe through a foreign company. Whatever you choose, test a real payment from a foreign card before promoting it.
SECTION 05
Getting the money into Pakistan properly
Payments for exports of goods and services should reach Pakistan through formal banking channels, so they are documented as foreign remittances or export proceeds. Keep invoices, contracts and payout records for every foreign payment: your bank and tax adviser will ask for them, and they protect you if a payment is queried.
Rules on export proceeds, foreign currency accounts and tax for IT and freelance exports are set by the State Bank of Pakistan and FBR and change over time. Check the current position with your bank and a tax adviser rather than relying on a blog post, including ours.
SECTION 06
Fees and currency conversion
International payments cost more than local ones. Expect a processing fee per transaction, often a higher rate for foreign cards, plus currency conversion when dollars or pounds become rupees. Payout services and banks may also charge withdrawal or incoming-transfer fees.
Compare the total you receive in PKR for the same sale through each route, not the headline percentage. A route with a lower fee but a poor exchange rate can leave you with less.

SECTION 07
Online payment methods in Pakistan for local customers
If most of your customers are in Pakistan, you need local methods first: cash on delivery, bank transfer, JazzCash, Easypaisa and local debit and credit cards. Our guide to the best payment gateways in Pakistan compares them. Add an international route only if you actually sell abroad.
SECTION 08
Selling internationally on Eekaam
Eekaam markets let you sell to other countries from one store, with a currency, prices, payment methods and shipping set for each market. For local customers you can offer cash on delivery, bank transfer, JazzCash, Easypaisa through AssanPay and GoPayFast. If your business has a Stripe account, you can connect it with your own credentials to take card payments.
Each payment provider is connected with your own merchant account, so the provider's approval, fees and payout rules apply. Confirm that a method works for international customers before you show it in a foreign market.
SECTION 09
